Welcome to The Relisher’s Charleston edition! This week, I met with chef Mike Lata, the celebrated chef and co-owner of FIG and The Ordinary in Charleston, South Carolina.
Widely regarded as the chef who helped put Charleston on the culinary map, Lata won the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southeast and was a semifinalist for Outstanding Chef in 2017 and 2018. His restaurants have earned widespread acclaim, with multiple James Beard Award wins and nominations and spots on countless national “Best Restaurant” lists.
