Welcome to The Relisher’s Cabo San Lucas edition! This week, I sat down with Yvan Mucharraz, Chef and Culinary Director of COMAL, one of Cabo’s best restaurants.
Chef Yvan has trained in some of the world’s most renowned kitchens, including Thomas Keller’s three-Michelin-starred French Laundry in Napa Valley.
Under his leadership, COMAL was named one of the 1,000 Best Restaurants in the World by LA LISTE in 2024, ranked in the top 500 of the list. COMAL was also honored with a Michelin Recommendation, recognizing it as one of the best restaurants in Los Cabos in the inaugural 2024 Michelin Guide Mexico.
Below, the local chef shares his favorite places in Cabo, including restaurants, the most beautiful place for sunset drinks, the must-visit restaurants for first-time travelers and more.
“The Baja Peninsula is so rich in marine life that famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteau once called it ‘the aquarium of the world’—and it’s true. Beyond its incredible seafood and produce, what makes Cabo’s food scene so special is its cultural diversity. Over the past 20 years, people from across Mexico have brought their regional traditions here, blending them with international influences, especially from China and Japan.”
